THE BLOG
The next death-defying loop.
We talk a lot about how entrepreneurship is like a rollercoaster. When we say that to other entrepreneurs, we often get a smile and a nod because anyone who has started a business understands the ups and downs of the territory. It is great when things are up, but when things are down, you have a couple of choices regarding how you want to react. You can let the decent turn your stomach, or you can muster your resilience, keep your eyes looking forward, and feel confident that the next up is just around the corner. So the question becomes, how do you practice choosing resilience?
Vive la revolution!
For the first time in many years, the balance of power is shifting from the employer to the employee. The reasons for this have been percolating for a while, but the effects are here to stay. Employers need to dig deeper than higher wages and gimmicky perks as reasons to attract and retain good talent. We are witnessing a revolution in how and why people work, and like many major shifts, the first adopters will rise to the top.
Moving into the corner office.
We want to encourage women to aim high and shift the narrative to showcase how two women can create a successful business together. We consider ourselves so lucky to work with amazing female founders like the ones at RainStick Shower, Aangen, Spaceishare, Aesthetic Loft, Amy Hogan, CityMoguls, and Cleo Social. Did you know that only 11% of startups are female-founded?! Female entrepreneurs shouldn’t be a rarity, and in our business world, they are not!
Living in the zone of our superpowers.
I also had an opportunity to connect with the wonderful group at CityMoguls and we discussed challenges we face as entrepreneurs. For me, it was finding the time to do all of the things I want to work on for the business while actively doing the work needed in the business while having a life outside of the business, isn’t that always the way? I was quickly reminded by one of the members that this is when it is important to lean into your strengths… well wouldn’t you know it, this is exactly what we preach in our free pdf about leadership... because it's true!
Why Leadership?
What I often see in the start-up and entrepreneurial space is people suddenly finding themselves in a leadership role and, to no fault of their own, feeling like a fish out of water. They want to be a great leader, and probably have some good examples to glean from, but being a first-time leader can be daunting and frankly a bit scary, especially when you are the boss and don’t have your boss to go to for advice, eesh!
