Living in the zone of our superpowers.
As October comes to a close, culminating in my favourite day of the year Halloween, it again comes time to reflect on the month. And.. what a month it has been. As a growing business, I have appreciated that the culture we are creating at Method & Motion values balance and actively flows against the typical agency grind. The feeling of constant urgency and stress, now that is scary, and we believe there is a better way!
All that said, this month, I am certainly feeling the growing task list forcing us to stand firm in the boundaries we have created around our lives and our business. Seems fitting as we are in the month of Scorpio (oh yes we love our astrology over here) but it's all about protecting what we are creating both professionally and personally.
I also had an opportunity to connect with the wonderful group at CityMoguls and we discussed challenges we face as entrepreneurs. For me, it was finding the time to do all of the things I want to work on for the business while actively doing the work needed in the business while having a life outside of the business, isn’t that always the way? I was quickly reminded by one of the members that this is when it is important to lean into your strengths… well wouldn’t you know it, this is exactly what we preach in our free pdf about leadership... because it's true!
Knowing your strengths and playing to them is one of the best ways to lean into what you are good at, we call it your zone of superpower. Equally important is identifying the things that you don’t like doing or aren’t good at, we call that your zone of kryptonite. Being reminded of this shone the light on how my personal experience as an entrepreneur is so valuable to the work we do with our clients, and that I need to remember our own advice sometimes. If you aren’t sure what skills, tasks, or activities sit in your zones, be sure to check out the exercise we created in the download. This is great to inform any potential hiring decisions... hint: hire for the things that you need but aren’t your forte. It also serves as a good check-in for yourself and where your time and effort is best spent to grow and soar.
So this Halloween, I am channelling my inner superhero, standing firm with our boundaries, and continuing to enjoy the entrepreneurial ride. Bring on November, let's go!
